Awesome project. My theory that you were building a lunar lander is now wrong.

I picked up on this project a bit. I printed out the legs and all of the engine mounts. I will print other parts as I have time. I started looking at pricing for the electronics. It looks like about $200 worth of gear. That is without the radio or receiver RC gear.

Most of it we could get on Amazon, maybe we can find a less expensive source.

If we got this stuff does anyone have the RC equipment we can borrow to try it out. The instructions online say others have used:

Radio: Turnigy 9x with FrSky module (er9x firmware with telemetry)
Receiver: FrSky D8R-II (firmware with ppmsum out)

Anyone have a GoPro we can test in this?

It looks like the RC transmitter and receiver is about $60. That is much less expensive than I would have thought. Can someone who knows more about RC stuff take a look and see if this cheap one would work?

A GoPro Hero3 is $200. It seems we might be able to find a replacement or borrow one.

So this would put the project cost at about $260.
