Build & Badge: Woodshop, Compound Miter, Jointer, Planer
What to Expect
Expect a structured, instructor-led class with safety review, demonstrations, and supervised hands-on practice. The instructor will walk through how each machine works, what it’s best used for, and how the tools fit into common woodshop workflows. Participants will practice operating each machine and complete the required steps for Woodshop badging during the session.
Skills You’ll Acquire
• Safe startup, operation, and shutdown of a sliding compound miter saw
• Proper use of the jointer and planer for material preparation
• Understanding table saw operation and safety considerations
• Awareness of woodshop workflows and material handling
• Confidence using core woodshop machines independently
Prerequisites/Safety Information:
• Participants must be active MakeHaven members.
• Participants must watch the applicable badging video(s) and pass the associated quiz before attending:
• Closed-toe shoes are required, and all safety protocols must be followed during the class.

• Gain certification for independent access to essential woodshop tools.
• Build confidence and skills in woodworking.
• Learn proper tool operation in a guided environment.
