MakerspaceCT in Hartford is hosting a hackathon event at the end of March, and MakeHaven is hoping to send a team of members to compete as a group representing our community. The target of this hackathon is an IoT project focused on "smart cities". For those of you who may not know, IoT refers to the "Internet of Things" which is a fancy buzzword to represent any device that connects to the internet. For people unfamiliar with a "hackathon", it is an event where teams get together over the course of a weekend to rapidly prototype an idea and present it.

It would be good for everybody interested in participating in this event to meet at the start of the month. This is important to review the skills available to us as a team during the competition, discuss what type of project we could compile with the team members available, and compile a list of materials and tools we might need at the event to fully prototype any ideas we come up with.

It is important to note that while "Internet of Things" and "smart cities" tends to point towards electrical and software knowledge, it will be critical for our team to reflect talents from 3D printing and/or textiles/sewing to fully build out a project.

MEMBERS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS WILL BE NEEDED TO WIN THIS COMPETITION.

I am willing to provide additional instruction leading up to the event for those willing to participate but wish to refine their skills before any events.
