Starting Your Own Business: A 5 part series. Pt 1: Concept/Idea Creation

Thursday, June 2, 2022 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Are you’re interested in starting your own business, but have no idea where to start?

This 5 class series will go into detail about starting your own business and the thought process needed to become an entrepreneur.  The class will be broken down into several topics each night, starting with business idea creation, your goals/dreams and if you truly think you have it in you to make this work.  There are many people who want to start their own business that are fantastic at what they do, but they lack the business experience to take that passion and actually turn it into a profitable business.  This class will help you with all these questions, concerns and decisions.

Some questions to be covered:

Is your significant other on board with you?  Do you have any startup funds? Do you have what it takes to “think” like a business person?  Do you know what you know and more importantly what you don’t know and can I afford to pay someone to do what I don’t know or can I/will I learn it myself?

Class 1:

Concept/idea creation

  • Can I make this work?, is there a moat for this product or service?, who will buy it?, does it already exist?, how is this different than other products or services in the same vertical?, is it disruptive?  What is CONCORD?,  how to search on the US trade mark site?, did you check to see if your company name domain is available on godaddy?  Handle available on TikTok, Instagram?

***This is a 5-class series. Participants can attend all or some of the 5 classes. If you would like to purchase the full 5-classes set for 20% off the total price, please email Ashley at***

Instructor Bio:

I've been an entrepreneur my whole life.  After college I did work in the corporate world for roughly 2 years all the while moonlighting as an Adult Education teacher at various cities/towns in CT.  I taught computer application classes for many of the new programs that were just coming out.   Fast forward several years and I started a Mac/Apple only consulting business integrating Macs into the work force, connecting them to main frames, token ring networks, etc.  I was fortunate enough to land some really big accounts like IBM, Philips, Prodigy, Reader's Digest, etc.  Many did not survive the bubble too.  I started Technology Revealed in 1993 out of my one room apartment in West Haven, CT.  At it's max, I had 12 full-time engineers and we were crazy busy for many, many years.  In 2000, I started another business called Up To Code Data Cabling and our core business was telcom/data infrastructure wiring.  We designed, installed, certified and documented data networks using copper and fiber cabling including the premise wiring and the Server Room where all the infrastructure came to life.  In 2012, I started a mobile pizza business called Fired Up Pizza Truck serving New Haven Style Pizza, our slogan was, "We bring the party to you, not just the pizza!"  In 2018, I started a grass roots organization called Operation St. Nicholas in which I raise funds to give needs based US vets a Christmas/Holiday they would not have had via The Columbus House in New Haven and the Milford VFW.  In 2020, I started FB Group called All About New Haven Style Pizza and it grew from zero members to over 14,000 in two years.  From there I created a brand called The Pizza Gavones which I did with two other friends of mine, we did local pizza reviews and DIY New Haven Style Pizza making videos.  It's just me now, but The Pizza Gavones are going strong.  Most recently I started a new venture called New Haven Pizza School, the concept is a mobile pizza making class at your home or office.  I am a mad scientist and kid at heart and I love teaching people how to do things.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
