Come out & Clay: Introduction to Polymer Jewelry

In this workshop, students will be introduced to the process of creating silkscreened images on polymer clay as well as basic earring design and assembly. During the workshop each student will be able to complete multiple pairs of earrings and/or necklace pendants, and potentially several components to assemble at home. We'll cover the following topics:
  • Introduction to types of polymer clay and paint compatibility
  • Best paints to use
  • Silkscreen care and usage
  • Design possibilities for earrings
  • Two possible ways to assemble earrings
  • Conditioning and color blending with clay
  • Some additional possibilities for adding pattern to a sheet of clay

 

There are no prerequisites for this class, and all materials are provided, However, if you are uncomfortable using your fingers with acrylic paint, please bring protective gloves or an old credit card or hotel key card

The main makerspace and connected shops. This is located at 770 Chapel Street. Registered participants should ring the MakeHaven labeled doorbell. They will be directed down a long hallway, and down a set of stairs to our basement workshop.
