August 12th, SeeClickFix will be hosting a 2-day Civic Hack event. One piece of feedback we received from June's event was that folks wanted more time to be able to deliberate, dream, and develop their ideas and tools. 

The theme will still be New Haven’s Unique Needs, and we’ll use the SeeClickFix API to build solutions.

Introduction to Woodcut

Woodcut is a type of printmaking process. The art of printmaking involves the creation of a "master" printing block, from which multiple prints can then be made. The creation of a woodcut block is a very satisfying and tactile process, where hand tools are used to carve out the image that will be printed.

This 2-part workshop series (dates: 6/11th & 6/12th) is geared toward the beginner-beginner or someone with a little coding experience. 

In this workshop, you will learn the building blocks of creating a web site.

HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is a coding language which builds the foundation of a website, and CSS, (Cascading Styles Sheets) is the coding language responsible for styling (colors, fonts, position).

Ray Schamp is a world renowned origami artist known for his work with folding origami corrugations. The origami he does draws on mathematical concepts and requires skill and technique to bring to life. 

Origami Corrugations are straight line folds that are left partly open and collapse the paper continuously in geometrically interesting ways.

In this class, students will create two origami corrugations. Materials will be provided in class.

This is the standing time for new members to join. In this orientation we will go over all the basics of MakeHaven and issue keys. Time allowing we will do the the tool orientation for the 3d printer or laser cutter.

All-Grains Brewing with Andrew Orefice

This class is for those who have taken Basic Brewing or for experienced home brewers looking for more.

All grain brewing differs from extract brewing mainly in the wort production stage.

In this class, brew will be made from malted grains and water.
