Maker: Akeera Peterkin

Hi, my name is Akeera (She/They). I’m a lover of humanity, culture, art, my family/friends, and nature/animals. I’m a Senior Director at a domestic violence agency and the owner of a private practice that specializes in the mental health of underrepresented populations and trauma survivors. My artistic experience includes painting, poetry/spoken word, photography, and drawing (Haven’t done in years). I currently sit on the board of the National Association of Poetry Therapy. I’m looking to expand my creative world and given my career, dive into other self care practices to help balance work challenges. I’m looking forward to bringing my compassion, curiosity, and unique experiences to the space. Who knows, maybe I can also bring my poetic skills to the space one day.

NearingPolymer

I design and create jewelry and decorative objects from polymer clay. I sell my work primarily at craft shows, although I have a few retail outlets.

Maker: Nancy Nearing

I have been working in polymer clay for over 30 years, and remain enchanted with its vibrant color and its ability to behave like a host of other mediums from paper to glass. I love small venues and teaching. I began working full time with polymer in 2015 and was selected as an emerging artist at the Columbus Arts Festival in 2016. I have exhibited at the Columbus Winterfair, the Cleveland Flats Festival of the Arts, the Arlington (Virginia) Festival of the Arts, and the Guilford Art Center Craft Expo. My has been published in Lark’s 1000 Beads and Marie Segal’s Artists Guide to Polymer Clay. My most recent project was the creation and sale of Traditional Herbal pins, the proceeds from which went to provide maternal mental health care to black and brown mothers in the New Haven area.

Maker: Linda Parsloe

Following my initial career success in set and production design in theatre, tv and film productions, I developed a successful career in graphic arts, product design, and website design, I am now creating original designs in fused glass. Fused glass is an exciting colored glass medium that offers a wide range of artistic techniques and expressions. It is fascinating to see light play with the textures, transparencies, and the rich spectrum of colors, making a fused glass piece totally unique. My designs are inspired by decades of my creative art development, combining functionality with one-of-a-kind artistic creation. I invite you to browse my evolving selection of custom hand-made jewelry, plates, bowls, wall art, garden sculptures and window sun catchers.
