Guests should ring the MakeHaven doorbell, then proceed down the long hallway. When you get the main MakeHaven staircase by the double elevators, rather than go downstairs, proceed through the double glass doors, take a right down the hallway and you will see a room with a big robot sticker on the door.

Gourd pyrography, or wood burning on gourds, is the art of decorating gourds with burn marks using various heated tools. This workshop will provide an overview of the art of gourd pyrography and allow participants to wood burn their own design into a dried gourd of their choice. Participants will learn how to use a wood burning tool, how to deal with the somewhat tricky surface of gourds, and how to stain and seal their gourd design.

Join us for a screenprinting workshop with instructor Irene Bednarczyk. Students will learn the photo emulsion method of burning an image to a screen and will have a chance to print their image onto either paper or fabric (think poster print or t-shirt). The emulsion method is a great way to print a highly detailed image repeatedly on paper or textiles. MakeHaven will have pieces of fabric that can be used to learn on, participants are encouraged to bring t-shirts from home to print on and/or other materials.

Calling all jewelry makers! Join our meetup to talk with like-minded makers. Just starting out (or hoping to start) or been creating for years, all are welcome! Bring projects to show, ideas to share, dreams for the future, sketches, materials, or just yourself. We'll talk about what we'd like to see in our jewelry area in the future, and how we can support each other as makers. Whether you work in metal, acrylic, glass, enamal, lasercut or something else, we'd love to chat. BYOB welcome.
