New to woodworking? Looking to make a custom, handmade piece to give as a gift or level up your own kitchen?

In this introductory class, Clancy & Akeera will take you through the steps of making  your very own cutting board, while showing you how to use a planer, table saw, chop saw, and sander. You'll then finish your cutting board with mineral oil. It’s a great opportunity for those looking to get started in the woodshop but who may feel initially intimidated or those who prefer directed learning.

In this class, learn how to build your own 8x10 picture frame. Walker guides you through the entire process, from selecting the piece for display to taking measurements and piece-by-piece assembly. Participants will leave the class with their own custom frame and the knowledge of how to build more in the future.

The hands of a black person wearing gloves add a finishing varnish to a wooden frame they just made on a workbench.

This course will teach participants how to read grain patterns in green (newly cut) wood and split out billets (spoon blanks) for carving. With a small hatchet, slyod knife and hook knife, participants will learn how to rough out spoon shapes with an eye on form and function.  The slyod and hook knifes will be used to refine the spoon shape and bowl with special attention to safe an efficient knife use.

Brainstorm some projects that could be done for fun and/or to improve the woodshop and beyond!

All experience levels welcome and invited. Snacks provided, feel free to BYOB.
