Weave It Be: Woven Reed Basketry and Sculpture
What to Expect
This is a hands-on workshop focused on the basics of weaving with reed and introducing the foundational techniques of basket making. The class format allows you to interact directly with the material, with opportunities to explore the sculptural potential of reed by shaping and manipulating it into unique three-dimensional forms. By the end of class, you will have a completed woven object to take home for future reference.

- Material Preparation: Learning how to properly temper and handle reed to make it pliable for weaving.
- Basketry Foundations: Understanding the basic structural patterns and tension required to start and secure a weave.

Prerequisites and Safety Information
There are no prerequisites for participating. All skill levels are welcome. Please wear comfortable clothes that can handle a little water during material preparation.
What to Bring
Bring an empty plastic bottle to use during the shaping process. All other materials are provided.
