Learn the basics of soldering by building a color changing light for your bike spoke. Participants will be given a circuit board and walked through the process of soldering through-hole (bigger and easy to solder) components to that board.

During the activity we will discuss each component and their role in making the device function.

Each participant will leave with one finished bike light board. The bike light color can be customized by configuring switches on the board or using a tilt switch to make the color dependent on the device orientation.

Day of the Dead altars are made as a way of remembering and honoring deceased friends and family. The altars help guide the spirits back to the land of the living on the Noche de Muertos on the night of November 2.

The altar of the dead is a fundamental element in the celebration of the Day of the Dead. The bereaved believe that the spirit of their deceased returns from the world of the dead to live with the family that day, and thus console and comfort them for the loss.

Learn the fascinating possibilities of life casting just in time for Halloween! In this two-part workshop, students will learn the exciting process of making molds from a live subject. Two different lifecasting techniques will be covered: a reusable full head and neck mold using silicone rubber, as well as a single-use face mold using alginate rubber. Both methods will cover the application of plaster bandages to create support shells, and students will create a single plaster cast of their own faces to keep.
