Satisfy your curiosity and look inside the objects we use every day! For September’s Second Sunday, we are hosting a community take-apart session. This is the perfect opportunity to demystify everyday electronics, mechanical devices, and appliances by safely deconstructing them to see exactly how they work, how they were manufactured, and how they might be repaired.

What to Expect

This is a relaxed, social meetup designed to help members connect, explore mechanical curiosity, and learn through exploration. We will have basic hand tools available and a designated workspace where you can safely systematically dismantle items. The focus is entirely on inspection, reverse engineering, and learning; whether your goal is to understand a mechanism, salvage cool components for future projects, or try to put it all back together.

What to Bring

  • Items to Take Apart: We highly encourage you to bring your own broken, outdated, or unwanted items to disassemble. Great candidates include old alarm clocks, small kitchen appliances, remote controls, mechanical toys, or broken electronics.
  • Snacks to Share: We’ll provide some basic refreshments, but feel free to bring along a favorite treat to share if you are feeling inspired.

Who Should Join

This meetup is open to the public and makers of all stripes. If you enjoy making things and meeting creative people, you belong here! This session is all about sharing tips, finding unique materials, and seeing the amazing variety of work happening in the shop.
