About William
Billy is a systems architect, fabricator, and the owner of Banick by Design LLC. Diagnosed autistic later in life and active in his own recovery, Billy is pouring his exact focus and energy into tactile fabrication and community building. He knows firsthand what it means to need a space that makes sense, which is why he is dedicated to keeping the shop floor grounded, accessible, and zero-bullshit for everyone. He brings practical, real-world experience to MakeHaven, operating out of both the community space and his private shop in Milford.
Billy is also the founder of a non-profit initiative centered on Piscatory Recovery—using hands-on craft as a pathway for sobriety and somatic integration. This mission is the driving force behind his handcrafted fishing gear classes, where he co-instructs members on turning traditional broomstick fishing poppers, building both practical shop skills and mental resilience.
In the main shop, Billy specializes in comprehensive woodshop fabrication, helping members build genuine confidence with machinery. Beyond the sawdust, he is a fierce advocate for the amateur and shortwave radio community. He is dedicated to bypassing old-school gatekeeping, making the radio workspace welcoming, and getting people out of the weeds and directly on the air.
