Mold Making: Shaping the Future of your Creations

Learn to make a two-part mold in Intro to Mold-Making!

During this three-session workshop, you will learn to make a silicone mold, perfect for creating replicas made of plaster, silicone, plastic, and a myriad of other castable materials. You will also learn about different types of mold-making and the far reaching possibilities of working with silicone.

Day One: Introductions, presentation, clay-up and plexiglass walls, pour #1. 3 hours

Day Two: De-mold, plexiglass walls, pour #2: 1 - 1.5 hours

Day Three: De-mold, clean molds, demo the casting process. 1 hour

Participants will bring an object (no larger than 5" in any direction) and take home a silicone mold of it. Objects brought from home can be made of plastic, ceramic, wood, or plaster, or 3D printed. Objects should be relatively symmetrical, without too many large holes (like a mug handle) in multiple directions.

August 17: 6p-8p

August 24: 6p-7p

No experience necessary. All mold-making materials will be provided, participants only need bring in an object they wish to replicate.
