How it works

  1. Be a memberThe library is open to current MakeHaven members with a payment method on file.
  2. Sign up onceSign the borrowing policy and waiver online before your first loan.
  3. Check outFind the tool in the catalog and check it out on its page when you pick it up in person.
  4. Use it for a weekLoans run seven days, and you can renew if no one is waiting.
  5. Return itBring it back and use the return form, with photos of the tool's condition.

What you can borrow

Carpentry, jobsite, garden, automotive, measurement, concrete, demolition, electrical, framing, drywall and flooring tools, plus specialty items you would use once a year and never want to store. Each tool's page shows whether it is in, its replacement value and any badge you need first.

If a tool is out, join its waitlist and we will let you know when it comes back.

Cost

Borrowing is free for most tools. A few tools with consumable parts carry a fee, listed on the tool's page. Late returns are $5 per tool per day, and lost or damaged tools are charged at replacement value.

Safety first

Some tools need a MakeHaven badge before you can borrow them, the same as using them in our shops. Read the manual, inspect the tool when you pick it up, and you are the only person who uses it while it is out.
