Discover the creative potential of the extruder tool in this hands-on ceramics workshop. Often overlooked, the extruder opens up new ways to form clay and create dynamic, functional pieces. With a process-oriented approach, you’ll learn to combine extrusions and slabs, letting the clay’s natural properties guide your design. Expect a day of guided exploration and plenty of creative play, resulting in functional items like cups, mugs, or vases.

 

What to Expect

The workshop will include both demonstrations and guided hands-on practice. You’ll gain confidence in using the extruder and explore its applications for functional stoneware. With step-by-step instruction, participants will learn how to integrate extrusions with slabs and form unique ceramic pieces. There will be a one-hour break for lunch—you are welcome to bring food or enjoy one of the many nearby options.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is open to all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned ceramicists. Some prior ceramics experience may be helpful but is not required.

Prerequisites/Safety Information

No prerequisites. Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothing that can get dirty. Safety guidelines and studio best practices will be reviewed at the start of class.
