Got a wobbly stool or a chair with a loose leg? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the foundational skills needed to tackle common wood furniture repairs at home. Whether you’re new to the shop or just tired of living with rickety pieces, this class will show you how to assess damage, make simple fixes, and give your small wooden furniture a sturdier, longer life. This class focuses on minor repairs for small wood items—exact projects will vary based on what’s available and most helpful to demonstrate.

 

What to Expect

Led by a knowledgeable instructor, this class includes demonstrations and hands-on practice repairing small wooden furniture pieces like stools, chairs, or small tables. You’ll learn how to diagnose common structural issues, safely disassemble and reglue joints, and use clamps, sanders, and hand tools effectively. No prior woodworking experience needed—just come ready to learn and get a little dusty.

Skills You’ll Acquire

• Assessing structural issues in wooden furniture

• Safely disassembling joints and components

• Using clamps, adhesives, and joinery techniques for stabilization

• Basic sanding and surface touch-up methods

• Tips for maintaining and extending the life of wooden furniture

• Demonstration items (or feel free to bring a small item for instructor feedback)

• Safety gear and instruction

• Guidance from an experienced furniture repair instructor

Prerequisites/Safety Information

No prerequisites. Safety instructions and tool use will be covered in class. Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dusty.
