Online Event Protocol
For online events. Please mute when entering so to avoid disrupting the presentation. Arrival more than 15 minutes late will result in not being able to participate. If you are new to online presentations join the presentation 5 minutes before start to ensure you are properly setup.

Event Recording and Publication
Participants acknowledge video workshops may be recorded and shared on our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/MakehavenOrg), or elsewhere. For online events you may disable your video stream to avoid having your image recorded. The name/alias used will be recorded and shared. The information is current as of the date of the presentation, which means at some point it may (and likely will be) outdated.

Youth Policy
Youth under the age of 18 are welcome as visitors in the space if they are under the direct supervision of an adult (parent or guardian), whether as guests of a member or attendees of an event. Youth cannot wander around the space unsupervised. Events that are specifically for attendees under 18 will be advertised as such. If you’re looking for an activity for your child we recommend The Eli Whitney Museum. From time to time MakeHaven staff may form partnerships with community organizations which conduct programming and take custodial responsibility for youth while in the space.

Quilters of all levels are invited to join this quilting meetup at Eli Whitney Museum, in the Carter Studio, which is the first brick building you see upon entering the Eli Whitney entrance off Whitney Avenue. Hosted by Jackie Gleisner.

 

AGENDA:

  • Lavender Sachets -- thank you to Susan who has generously offered to lead a mini-lesson at our first meeting! 
  • Basic Quilting Tutorial -- many of you requested an introductory session to cover the foundations. As time permits, we'll cover some of the terminology and perhaps tackle a quilted potholder. 
  • Fabric Swap -- bring old fabrics (sheets, t-shirts, flannel pajamas, and cotton dress shirts) to swap with others.
  • Show and Tell -- bring something you've made or aspirational imagery to share with the group. 
  • Community Quilt Sign-Up -- I'd love to gauge who would be interested in working on a community quilt. 
  • Choosing the Tutorial Topic for February -- topics volunteered from the survey include basic embroidery, visible mending, quilt binding methods, "sew as you go" quilting, and improv quilting... 

 
SUPPLIES/NOTES:

Bring a sewing machine if you have one. We will have a few sewing machines on hand as well. 

 

Participate in the tutorial if you're interested! You're all welcome to gather to work on your sewing projects independently. 

 

Snacks are welcome. Jackie will bring a selection of seltzers or other beverages.
