Introduction to Induction Forging

Tuesday, August 16, 2022 - 6:30pm to 9:30pm

Induction heating is a non-contact process which uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to produce heat in a workpiece. By placing a conductive material into a strong alternating magnetic field, electric current is made to flow in the material, thereby causing Joule heating. In magnetic materials, further heat is generated below the Curie point due to hysteresis losses.

Using the induction forge, basic hammer techniques, and hand tools, students will cut, twist, taper, bend and smash steel into either a wizard wand or a BBQ fork of their own design.

Materials and images for reference will be provided. The class is limited to 4, no experience needed.

When capacity of event is full you may join the Waiting List. For online events a link to join the session will be automatically emailed after registration.
