In Print Condition: Intro to Woodblock cutting & printmaking

Sunday, August 14, 2022 - 12:00pm to 3:00pm
Intro to woodcut: This class is aimed at anyone who would like to dive into the world of printmaking without any prior experience needed. During the class we will be discussing woodcut as a medium using examples from art history to show the dynamic nature of the technique. You will learn about the tools used, how to cut the block, how to ink it up and finally how to print.

The first part of class will be spent exploring visual examples, the tools used and a walk through of the process. We will also discuss how to start carving and it will be best to come prepared with an image. The second portion will be all about learning how to print your block, including tearing paper, setting up the press and cleaning up properly.

Students will finish the class with their own woodcut and a carving tool set to further explore the craft.
