Womxn & Woodworking: Sharpening (MakeHaven Member event)

Sunday, July 31, 2022 - 12:00pm to 3:00pm

Places like a woodshop can feel difficult to break into.

In this monthly event, MakeHaven's women, trans, and femme members* are invited to the woodshop to become familiar with the space and add some woodworking badges to their toolbelt. In these sessions, MakeHaven woodshop facilitator Jen leads the group through use of a variety of the tools in the woodshop.

July Event:
Sharpening party! Bring in your knives, your chisels, or your straight edge as we talk sharpening theory, make a sharpening block, and practice. This is a learning together and skillshare type of event, where we will look to share tips and tricks as we all hone our skills, ask questions, and build connections in a friendly group setting!

Time allowing, members will be able to earn the Tormach Knife Sharpening badge,

*This event is intended for all gender identities who have historically been marginalized in woodworking communities. Have questions? Please reach out to us at events@makehaven.org
