American-Made Challenge: Solar Prize Round 6

Tuesday, September 27, 2022 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

American-Made competitions, offered by the U.S. Department of Energy, are designed to reward innovation and problem solving. Innovators work to transform big ideas into concepts and then prototypes ready for industry testing on a condensed timeline.

The Department of Energy is now giving $50,000 prizes for those who submit the best new ideas to improve the solar power industry. This can be anything related to solar, the way solar is installed, or used by consumers. 20 semifinalists will win  a $50,000 cash prize and will move on to the next level (set) where they will compete for a even bigger cash prize.

Join a brainstorming and planning session at MakeHaven to help you develop an idea to submit to the Department of Energy Solar Innovation contest. This information and ideation session will provide an overview presentation of the competition, its goals and requirements for submission.During this session we will introduce the challenges the solar industry faces, then walk you through a brainstorming and ideation exercise. We will then break-out into groups to outline the answers to the questions you submit to the contest.

This competition is open to the public no matter your level of experience or expertise.   This prize can be won by anyone and you do not need a technical background. Several MakeHaven teams have been awarded funds to develop ideas from similar contests.

Register now to be apart of our brainstorming event located at MakeHaven, 770 Chapel St, New Haven CT.
