A band saw is a versatile power tool that uses a continuous loop of falling blade to make precise cuts in various materials, including wood, metal, and plastic. Members at a makerspace typically use it for tasks such as cutting intricate shapes, resawing lumber, and trimming pieces to specific dimensions. Its ability to create smooth, curved cuts makes it a valuable tool for both novice and experienced makers.

The Table Saw is used primarily to rip wood. 

If a user triggers the Sawstop by contacting the blade with wet wood, glue, metal or a body part, they are responsible for the replacement cost of the cartridge in the Store.

A scroll saw is a small electric saw that is useful for cutting intricate curves in cases where a jigsaw or coping saw is not appropriate.

It is somewhat similar to a band saw, but unlike band saws, in which the saw blade is a continuous loop, scroll saws use saw blades similar to those of coping saws and operate through a quick reciprocating up and down motion. Scroll saws are often used to cut intricate curves and joints, a task they can complete quickly and with great accuracy. They can also be used to cut dovetail joints. The tool allows a substantial amount of creativity and requires comparatively little space.

A scroll saw has two main advantages when compared to a band saw. The first is that the blade can be removed and placed through a pre-drilled starting hole. This feature allows interior cutouts to be made without creating an entry slot for the blade through the edge of the workpiece. Second, a scroll saw can cut significantly more intricate curves.

Scroll saws are comparatively safe. In particular, inadvertent contact between the blade and the operator's fingers are unlikely to result in serious injury.

Router table, with fine joinery capabilities

The panel saw is used for cutting sheets of wood.

The Tormek T8 is a top of the line blade sharpener. It can be used on chesels, planes, kitchen knives, sciessors, etc.

Cutting area of 53.5"x97"x5.5", max spindle speed of 18000rpm and travel speed of 600ipm. Has vacuum hold down, and will be upgraded to have Automatic Tool Changing. 

This is a Powermatic drum sander that is 22" wide, and can accommodate pieces 44" wide by turning them around.

The belt and disc sander is used for sanding in the woodshop. New belts and discs are available in the Store.

This is a 5HP 20" wide planer with helical carbide blades.

This is the Powermatic PM2800B Drill Press.

The mortiser is used to quickly make mortises (square holes) in wood for joinery.

The Grizzly G0513X2 Band Saw has a 17" height capacity and a 1" blade for resawing.
