Lithium battery spot welder

Submitted by VASILY RUZHA on

The "must-have" tool for building off-grid systems and lithium battery pack assembly. Lithium batteries are easily damaged by excessive heat and cannot be welded with solder irons, the only way to assemble them is via a suitable spot welder. The spot welder we have in the shop is large and not suitable for this kind of work.

Hydraulic Cable Lug Crimper & Wire cutter

Submitted by VASILY RUZHA on

This is a "must-have" tool for various projects that require large gauge wiring, like home renovation, building off-grid electrical systems, solar & solar generators, e-bikes, etc. "Hammer" type crimpers struggle to create reliable connections and the majority of Chinese hydraulic crimpers are sold with dies that are not properly sized for AWG. TEMCo crimpers are properly sized for AWG wires and very reliable, based on reviews. The best tool should be able to crimp as large as 4/0 AWG lugs and as small as 6 AWG (or smaller) to be versatile.

3D Scanner

A 3D scanner would be a very useful tool in developing designs for the 3D printers. I believe that it could be useful in designing for the CNC machines as well.

Real-Time or Close-To-Real-Time Minimum Viable External/Remote 3D Printer Status Check

Submitted by Charlie Long on

It would be handy to know how many of the 3D printers available for use are currently in-use, or to check up on a print remotely.

I understand the very real concerns regarding exposing 3D printer control interfaces to the public, which is why I instead propose we mirror the most basic of information (whether the device is currently in use, how long is left on a print, etc) to an externally accessible web-page, potentially on the MakeHaven site itself.
