We want to help inventors and entrepreneurs find their voice and practice to compete in larger pitch competitions the Entrepreneur Innovation Awards. To this end we are hosting an online pitch competition for the extended MakeHaven community. We invite anyone with an invention, creative work, or idea that can become a business to participate.

DNA testing has now become available to consumers at amazingly inexpensive prices. This unlocks the potential for totally new preventative health interventions and insights, but also demands understanding of genetics and how to properly interpretative the tests. The data without understanding is not useful and misinterpretation can be dangerous.

This online event will be to workshop and refine the pitch for your business or invention. This event will build on the learning from the "Developing Your Pitch" event, and allow for trying out ideas and receiving peer feedback. 

Participants can have a finished 5 minute pitch to practice, a partial pitch or just an idea. We do recommend participants to in try to make the case for an idea/business briefly addressing each of the following:

Do you have an idea of a small business or invention you want to turn into a startup? Being able to make a good pitch for your idea can make the difference that gains allies and wins funding.  There are many tips and tricks to developing a good pitch that the early entrepreneur is not likely to know. 

In this session Richard Guha will break down the elements of a wining pitch. This will be followed by a questions and answers session with Richard.

Come join to see what artistic creations people have grown. 

Members of the community are creating art with bacteria in an earlier workshop. This followup is open to anyone interested in learning about the process and seeing the art online. The event will start with a 20 minute talk describing the equipment and biology behind the process. We will then reveal each of the created bacterial works of art, for feedback and congratulations from the audience.

In this hands-on workshop, you will create your own agar art using live microbes.  Participants will create agar art by painting with microbes and learn how to use traditional biology lab techniques with artistic tools. Before the experience you watch a video giving basic instruction of how to use the tools.

You will be assigned to one of four half-hour “painting” sessions to come and painton February 23; sessions scheduled to limit participant occupancy.
